India, a country of 1.4 billion people has adopted digital technologies across domains for transforming its economic growth and development trajectory.
At the core of this approach and digital journey is India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), which provides open-source, scalable digital tools as public goods.
Digitalisation has enabled India to leap frog and ensure rapid progress in several sectors.
The Government of India led this process from the forefront, with large investments in creating the open source digital tools, making internet access faster and more affordable, and bringing down the cost of smartphones through domestic manufacturing.

The most impactful and critical feature of digitalisation in India, is Aadhaar, an open digital identity framework for residents, which registered more than 1.4 billion people. Following up on Aadhaar, a Unified Payments Interface (UPI) was built as an interoperable financial network. UPI is now one of the world’s most used payment systems, processing nearly 228.5 billion transactions in 2025 .
These tools enabled the government to empower many of its citizens through financial -inclusion, creating bank accounts for those from the most marginalised sections of society, especially women.

The Panel discussion will feature speakers who will address following aspects:

– How did India ensure financial inclusion of its large population
– India’s experience with cashless and digital payments
– Digital innovations in agriculture and food public distribution system
– How did India scaleup, address challenges, and what are best practices
